A comprehensive guide for anyone wanting to learn about growing and gardening with Camellia sinensis, the book starts with a brief history and geography of tea, followed by an overview of contemporary tea growers in North America and the British Isles. After introducing the botany of the tea plant, the text delves deep into practical topics including site planning and soil preparation, sourcing and propagating, raising and maintaining healthy plants, harvesting and
processing, and growing tea in pots and other special circumstances.

The book is designed to be accessible to readers from a wide range of backgrounds, as the authors share lessons learned through their own experiences and from other growers, large and small. In addition to their survey of over 100 non-commercial growers, the book highlights responses from interviews of several farmers and thought leaders, including members of the U.S. League of Tea Growers and others in North America and the British Isles.

Booklist describes the result as, “The guide of guides to the cultivation of tea!”

America’s Tea Sage, James Norwood Pratt declared: "Grow Your Own Tea is truly a masterpiece how-to guide to cultivating and enjoying the sacred leaf. Christine and Susan have planted a landmark in our horticultural history and a milestone on America's path to becoming a tea-consuming society. It will delight even the armchair gardener and casual tea lover."

While the book is available from the publisher, bookstores and other sellers, orders made through Camellia Forest Nursery help to support the garden and our mission of making it available to visitors.
